Happ Definitely In; Seanez Possibly Out?

Published by Jim Vassallo at 10:15 pm under Games, General Baseball, NLDS, Playoffs Edit This

J.A. Happ was informed by pitching coach Rich Dubee that he made it onto Charlie Manuel’s postseason roster for the NLDS.

The Phillies have to set their roster by 10am Wednesday morning.

With Happ in it might mean that veteran righty Rudy Seanez might be left off of the postseason roster. That doesn’t make sense though. Seanez should make the team over struggling starter Kyle Kendrick.

Kendrick had a decent first half to the season but struggled mightily after the All-Star break; allowing Happ to make a case for himself as a starter and long reliever.

In other Phillies news; left fielder Pat Burrell left practice early on Tuesday after feeling discomfort in his back after taking swings during batting practice.

He will be re-evaluated Wednesday morning and a decision will be made as to who starts in left field after that. It could either be Matt Stairs or Geoff Jenkins in left field for game one against the Brewers.
