Phillies Win a Thriller

The Phillies won a thriller at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday night, well, Sunday morning.

The start of game three of the 2008 World Series was delayed for an hour and 31 minutes due to rain in Philadelphia and didn’t end until close to 2 am Sunday morning.

First pitch was just around 10pm Eastern time on Saturday night.

The Phillies grabbed a 4-1 lead off of back to back homeruns from Chase Utley and Ryan Howard but bad calls from the umpiring crew allowed the Rays to close to within one run at 4-3.

They then tied in at 4 late in the game.

The Phillies loaded the bases with no one out in the ninth and won on an infield single off the bat of Carlos Ruiz, scoring Eric Bruntlett from third.

The Phillies won 5-4 and lead the best of seven series 2 games to 1.

They look to take a commanding 3 games to 1 lead on Sunday night.
